MTN Nigeria, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, has introduced ‘MyLagosApp’, a cutting-edge digital platform designed to enhance urban living in Lagos. The mobile application serves as a central hub for residents and visitors, providing real-time updates on events, entertainment, hospitality, transportation, and government-related payments.

The official launch took place in Lagos on Thursday, March 13, with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu represented by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the special guest of honor. The event highlighted the government’s commitment to using technology to improve city management and connectivity.

Speaking on the initiative, Hamzat emphasized that the partnership between MTN Nigeria and the Lagos State Government reflects the administration’s dedication to improving citizens’ lives through digital innovation. “I commend the efforts of MTN Nigeria, the state government, and other stakeholders for bringing this vision to life. Technology plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between the public and private sectors, driving innovation, and enhancing quality of life,” he noted.

He further explained that MyLagosApp simplifies access to public services, delivers real-time updates, and promotes transparency in governance. “Whether it’s navigating government processes, accessing essential city services, or staying informed on key developments, this app ensures that crucial information is always at your fingertips,” he added.

MTN Nigeria’s CEO, Dr. Karl Toriola, reinforced the company’s commitment to digital transformation, stating that MyLagosApp aligns with MTN’s broader strategy of advancing e-governance, digital entertainment, and commercial innovation. “With this initiative, Lagos is moving closer to becoming a truly smart city. We are proud to collaborate with the Lagos State Government in leveraging technology to improve accessibility, connectivity, and overall urban efficiency,” he said.

Highlighting the app’s technical sophistication, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Information Officer, Shoyinka Shodunke, noted that the platform was developed by MTN’s Software Lab, adhering to global security standards, including ISO 27001 certification. “Security was a top priority in the app’s development, ensuring user data protection and safe access to its features,” he explained.

The launch also included a fireside chat featuring key stakeholders from MTN Nigeria and the Lagos State Government, where discussions focused on how the app would improve mobility, support local businesses, and enhance interactions between the government and citizens.

MyLagosApp is now available for download on both Android and iOS. While currently listed as ‘MyCityApp’ on app stores, users are encouraged to explore the platform to experience how it is transforming city life in Lagos.
