LAWMA, the Lagos Waste Management Authority, has introduced a new toll-free number, 08000LAWMA, to enhance communication and make its waste management services more accessible to residents. Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, emphasized that the introduction of this toll-free number aims to broaden communication avenues with the public. The goal is to optimize operational activities and provide more efficient and comprehensive waste disposal solutions for the people of Lagos.

“At LAWMA, we recognise the critical role that communication plays in effective waste management. By introducing this additional toll-free number, we are removing barriers and making it easier for residents to report issues, request services, and stay informed about LAWMA’s activities”, he said.

The 08000LAWMA hotline, according to him, would directly connect callers with dedicated representatives specifically trained to address a variety of waste-related concerns. He highlighted that residents could utilize the service to report instances of illegal dumping, request waste collection, inquire about PSP operations, and obtain information about various services offered by LAWMA.

In addition to prioritizing improved communication, LAWMA is reinforcing its core operational services. This involves strengthening partnerships with PSPs, enhancing marine waste services, giving priority to healthcare waste, addressing market waste challenges, and implementing other measures to optimize waste management throughout the state.

The head of LAWMA urged residents to adopt the practice of proper waste containerization and disposal. He emphasized that doing so would not only contribute to shielding people from various contagious diseases but also play a crucial role in fostering a healthier environment.

For individuals dealing with waste management-related issues, LAWMA provides several toll-free numbers: 08000LAWMA (0800052962), 07080601020, and 617. Additionally, inquiries can be made via email by reaching out to info@lawma.gov.ng.
