The launch of “Eat to Wealth,” authored by Dr. Jesupelumi Adenihun, is scheduled for November 18, 2023, in Lagos. The primary focus of the book is to motivate Nigerians to enhance their eating habits, promoting a healthier lifestyle.
Research conducted by the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy reveals a concerning trend between 2005 and 2018. It indicates that in Sub-Saharan Africa, individuals with higher education levels tended to consume more sugar-sweetened beverages compared to their counterparts in the Middle East/North Africa. Notably, Nigeria, Mexico, Ethiopia, and the United States topped the global charts for the highest consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages during this period. The study emphasizes the pivotal role of diet and beverage choices in health outcomes, citing associations with conditions such as obesity, malnutrition, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.
“Eat to Wealth” emerges as a comprehensive guide, positioning nutrition as the cornerstone of physical well-being and disease prevention. Dr. Adenihun’s book aims to empower individuals with the knowledge necessary to cultivate and sustain healthy eating habits, enabling them to achieve their wellness goals.
