9mobile Partners with Bayero University Kano to Establish Telecommunication Research Center

Nigeria’s telecommunications company, 9mobile, has announced a strategic partnership with Bayero University, Kano (BUK), as the university prepares to establish the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) center of excellence in telecommunication research and development. This collaboration aims to enhance capacity building, modernize educational delivery, and optimize technology access for students.

The partnership between 9mobile and BUK holds great promise for improving e-learning methods and internet connectivity within the university, thereby bolstering teaching, learning, research, and administrative activities. Through the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, the university intends to significantly enhance academic endeavors.

Mr. Victor Nwaobia, Chief Sales Officer at 9mobile, expressed his enthusiasm for the unique opportunity to collaborate with BUK, an esteemed institution, in establishing and strengthening critical ICT infrastructure. He emphasized that education is a key pillar of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and highlighted 9mobile’s commitment to supporting educational development in the country. Nwaobia reiterated 9mobile’s dedication to deploying resources for capacity building and technology optimization, ensuring that the center achieves its objective of positively impacting the academic experiences of both students and lecturers.

The Center of Excellence project is an initiative by the NCC aimed at equipping selected federal universities in Nigeria with the necessary tools and resources to integrate ICT effectively into teaching, research, and learning. It seeks to bridge the digital gaps in academia by providing computers, ICT equipment, and essential facilities to enhance the ICT skills of lecturers, staff, and students, ensuring a conducive 21st-century learning environment.

Through this strategic partnership, 9mobile and Bayero University Kano aspire to transform the educational landscape by leveraging technology and fostering innovation in the field of telecommunication research and development. This collaboration represents a significant step toward advancing academic excellence and empowering the next generation of students and educators in Nigeria.
