The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of 118 suspects and the recovery of a cache of arms, ammunition, and other exhibits during coordinated operations carried out across the state in April 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, disclosed this on Tuesday while parading the suspects at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja. He explained that the arrests were linked to a range of criminal activities, including armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, vandalism, and related offences.
According to the police chief, the successes recorded were driven by intelligence-led policing and swift response strategies deployed throughout the month.
He revealed that the operations led to the recovery of several dangerous items, including 11 locally fabricated Beretta pistols, one English-made pistol, two Dane guns, as well as cutlasses, charms, suspected hard drugs, and nine stolen telecom batteries.
In a major crackdown, police operatives apprehended 58 suspected members of a notorious group known as “Otaku Boys” along the Lekki corridor. The group has been linked to harassment, extortion, and attacks on motorists and residents in the area.
The Command also confirmed the arrest of two suspects connected to the kidnapping and killing of a 17-year-old victim, Thompson Adams, in Ikorodu. Investigations revealed that the teenager was allegedly abducted, tortured, and murdered, with his body later dumped in a remote location.
Further findings linked the suspects to the earlier killing of a female victim in 2025, after reportedly collecting a ransom of ₦300,000 from her family.
Additionally, police uncovered a syndicate involved in the theft of telecommunications infrastructure, leading to the recovery of nine stolen telecom batteries in parts of Ikeja and Ikorodu.
More arrests were made during targeted raids on suspected cultists and armed robbery gangs operating in Lagos Island, Ajah, Festac, and other areas.
CP Tijani reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining security and combating criminal activities across Lagos State. He also urged residents to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and credible information to law enforcement authorities.
