The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has launched a dedicated anti-crime patrol operation along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road as part of renewed efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities along the strategic route.
The initiative involves the deployment of four specialised patrol teams assigned to operate round the clock, providing continuous visibility policing and ensuring rapid response to distress calls and emergencies.
According to the Police Command, the move is designed to proactively deter criminal elements and reassure commuters, businesses, and residents who ply the corridor daily. The patrol teams are expected to maintain a strong presence along key points of the highway, conduct routine checks, and respond swiftly to any security threats.
The operation further reinforces existing security measures already in place. Several patrol vehicles have been stationed along the highway since December 2025, and the new deployment is intended to bolster these efforts, particularly as traffic and commercial activities increase along the coastal axis.
The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by reporting suspicious movements or activities along the route.
