Eight secondary schools drawn from both public and private institutions in Aba are preparing to compete in the inaugural Aba Literary Week 1.0, a student-focused educational initiative spearheaded by the All Saints Secondary School, Ehere ’92 Set.
The event, slated for February 24, 25 and 27, 2026, will be hosted at Priqueen International School, Ogbor Hill, Aba. It promises a vibrant blend of academic engagement through quiz contests, literary analysis sessions and student presentations based on the novel Beaten, written by Obinna Olewe, an alumnus of the school.
Driven by the All Saints ’92 Set as part of its social responsibility and educational outreach efforts, the programme reflects a strong commitment to advancing quality education in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4.
The initiative has secured backing from notable stakeholders within the education and governance space, including the Office of the Commissioner for Education in Abia State, the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Education, the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, the Mayors of Aba North and Obingwa Local Government Areas, as well as Quiz Nigeriana, Port Harcourt, which will provide technical support.
President of the All Saints ’92 Set, Chief Engr. Martin Ikechukwu Uzoegwu, described the literary week as a deliberate investment in nurturing young intellects. He stated that the alumni body is focused on establishing a lasting platform that promotes consistent reading habits, stimulates intellectual growth and contributes meaningfully to the educational development of Aba and surrounding communities.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Engr. Samuel Ogbuagu, explained that the initiative is structured to foster collaboration among alumni associations, educational institutions, government agencies and private sector partners. He emphasized that the goal is to institutionalize the literary week as an annual empowerment programme with expanding reach and impact.
Beyond competition, participating students will benefit from cash rewards, complimentary copies of the featured book and increased exposure to literary engagement, all designed to strengthen creativity, academic excellence and healthy intellectual rivalry among young learners in Aba.
