The Lagos State Police Command has recorded fresh success in its fight against crime with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of firearms during separate, intelligence-driven operations in Ajegunle and Ojo.
In Ajegunle, police operatives acted on credible intelligence about suspected criminals who reportedly use commercial motorcycles to rob residents at gunpoint. Following the tip-off, the Command’s Tactical Team, *Thunder Blast*, was deployed to the area, leading to the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect, Waheed Orelope. A locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him during the operation.
A similar operation was carried out in Ojo after intelligence reports indicated that hoodlums had taken over the Iyana Iba Under Bridge area, threatening commuters and residents. The Surveillance Team from the Ojo Division moved in swiftly and arrested another suspect, 29-year-old Wasiu Shonibare. One locally fabricated pistol was also recovered from the suspect.
Both suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their roles and identify other members of the criminal network. The Police Command said updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain proactive policing across the state to protect lives and property. He also urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information through the Command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.
