The Lagos State Police Command has taken a major step toward technology-driven policing with the activation of a new CCTV Surveillance Centre aimed at strengthening security across Lagos Island and surrounding areas.
The facility, which became operational on January 14, 2026, was launched under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh. Built and fully equipped by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works and supervised by Engr. Dave Umahi, the centre enables real-time surveillance of strategic locations including the Third Mainland Bridge, nearby waterways, and key parts of the Island.
Designed to support proactive crime prevention, the surveillance hub—also designated as Control Room 5—operates круглly round the clock with trained officers on duty to ensure rapid, intelligence-led response to security incidents. To further enhance operational efficiency, two patrol vehicles were formally handed over to the command on January 16, 2026.
The Lagos Police Command has called on residents and road users to remain alert and actively support security efforts by reporting any suspicious activity.
