MTN Nigeria has achieved the globally recognised Tier III Certification for Constructed Facility (TCCF) from the Uptime Institute for its Dabengwa Data Centre, reinforcing its leadership in delivering world-class digital infrastructure for Africa’s progress.

The certification marks a significant milestone for the company, positioning the Dabengwa Data Centre among only four facilities in Nigeria to attain both Tier III Design Documentation (TCDD) and Constructed Facility certifications.

Launched in July 2025, the Dabengwa Data Centre is Nigeria’s largest prefabricated modular data facility, comprising 96 prefabricated containers in its first phase. It is designed with cutting-edge technologies including AI-driven energy optimisation and hybrid cloud capabilities, providing high performance, flexibility, and reliability for enterprise clients.

The Tier III standard is a globally accepted benchmark for data centre resilience, ensuring multiple independent power and cooling paths that allow for maintenance without service interruption. Facilities certified at this level guarantee an availability rate of 99.982%, translating to a maximum downtime of just 1.6 hours per year.

Speaking on the achievement, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Karl Toriola, described the milestone as a reflection of the company’s dedication to excellence and innovation.

“This certification is a testament to the hard work, strategic focus, and collaboration across our teams and partners. It reflects our commitment to building top-tier infrastructure that supports Nigeria’s digital future. We will continue to uphold global standards in quality, resilience, and compliance to deliver exceptional value to our customers and stakeholders,” he said.

As the first MTN Nigeria technical facility to earn this certification, the Dabengwa Data Centre underscores the company’s Ambition 2025 strategy, which prioritises resilient digital infrastructure as a key enabler of Nigeria’s digital economy.

With this milestone, MTN Nigeria strengthens its enterprise market position, enhances business continuity, and reaffirms its role in driving inclusive digital transformation across the country. The company remains committed to expanding its digital capabilities, investing in future-ready infrastructure, and delivering innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of businesses and customers.
