Amid widespread public concern over the alarmingly poor performance in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), telecommunications and digital services provider, Globacom, has introduced its Examination Preparatory Service, a digital solution aimed at reversing the trend of academic failure among Nigerian students.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) recently revealed that out of over 1.9 million UTME candidates, more than 1.5 million scored below 200, with nearly half scoring between 160 and 199, and another 24.97% falling between 140 and 159. The shocking figures have sparked national conversations about the declining quality of education and the urgent need for intervention.

Globacom, responding to this challenge, unveiled its Examination Preparatory Service as a tool designed to enhance readiness for computer-based tests such as UTME, WAEC, JSCE, A-Levels, and IELTS. The service provides structured learning content, interactive quizzes, and video tutorials across twenty key subjects.

In a press release, the company stated: “This platform equips students with the skills needed to understand the structure, format, and question types of major exams. It also offers practical strategies to tackle difficult topics and improve recall, thereby increasing chances of success.”

Students can subscribe to the service by dialing 207916# on their Glo lines and selecting their exam category. The service delivers content on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and includes engaging trivia questions tied to specific syllabi. Top participants will also enjoy incentives such as airtime, data, and cash rewards.

According to Glo, the service not only reinforces key academic principles but also helps students identify weak areas and build exam confidence through consistent practice. “Our goal is to support students with relevant tools that enhance learning outcomes and reduce failure rates,” the statement concluded.

With this initiative, Globacom is taking a proactive step toward educational empowerment, leveraging technology to bridge performance gaps and drive academic excellence.
