Hilary Damissah’s win reflects a career marked by dedication, innovation, and impact. Over the years, he has earned a reputation as a mentor to young media professionals, organizing periodic multimedia training programs and facilitating internship opportunities through strategic partnerships with media organizations.
His extensive portfolio includes consultancy services for government agencies, special events and project management, and significant international media coverage. His work spans multiple sectors, including information technology, business, arts, tourism, sports, and entertainment. He has reported extensively across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, bringing global insights to his craft.
Born on January 13, 1978, in Afowah, Edo State, Hilary’s journey began with a foundation in academic excellence. He attended Usogun Primary School and Afowah Mixed Secondary School before earning a degree in English Language from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, in 2000. During his time at OAU, he served as Editor-in-Chief of The Megaphone News Agency and co-founded the Students’ Sports Writers and Commentaries Association of Nigeria.
In 2007, Hilary earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from OAU. He also holds certifications in Sales and Business Management from the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, and a diploma in Public Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, where he is an Associate Member. In 2017, he was conferred as a Fellow of the Institute of Information Management (FIIM, Africa).
Hilary’s career spans decades of experience, beginning as a Library Assistant at OAU and including roles as a freelance journalist, editor, and media consultant. He is currently at the helm of DigiVation Network, a multimedia platform focused on IT, innovation, and business.
Beyond his professional achievements, Hilary’s commitment to mentoring emerging talents and his efforts to advance the Nigerian media landscape set him apart.
