Senate Confirms Idris Olorunnimbe as NCC Board Chairman

Nigeria’s telecommunications regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has a new leadership team as the Senate, on Tuesday, confirmed Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe (representing the South West) as Chairman of the NCC Board following a successful screening by its Committee on Communications.

During plenary, the Senate also approved the appointments of Maryam Bayi (North East), Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), and Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East) as Commissioners of the Commission.

Rounding off the newly confirmed members are Princess Oforitsenere Emiko and Christopher Sandy Okorie, both representing the South South region.

The confirmations complete the NCC Board, which already includes Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (North West); Engineer Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner for Technical Services (North Central); and Rimini H. Makama, Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management (North Central).

With this, the NCC Board is now fully constituted, poised to strengthen Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, deepen broadband access, and advance the nation’s communications infrastructure agenda.
