Wema Bank Plc has introduced the ALAT Xplore App, a new mobile banking platform tailored for teenagers aged 13-17. Officially launched on October 26, 2024, in Lagos, this innovative app is designed to empower young people with essential financial resources and guide them toward financial responsibility from an early age.

Available for download on both the PlayStore and App Store, ALAT Xplore offers a suite of engaging and educational features to make financial management accessible and appealing for teens. The app allows users to set and track personalized savings goals, make airtime and data purchases, and customize the interface with widgets, creating an interactive and tailored experience.

A standout feature of ALAT Xplore is its parental-control framework, which links the app with Wema Bank’s ALAT platform. This integration allows parents to oversee and manage their teenagers’ financial activities, such as onboarding, fund usage, and access levels, providing a secure environment for young users to learn about finances under parental supervision.

Wema Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Moruf Oseni, highlighted the importance of introducing financial literacy at an early age, stating, “Teenage years are a critical phase for shaping responsible financial habits. The ALAT Xplore App aims to guide teens on this path, helping them grow into financially savvy adults.” Oseni also emphasized the app’s role in expanding financial inclusion for Nigerian youth, describing ALAT Xplore as a “game changer in the Nigerian banking industry.”

As Nigeria’s first licensed banking app for teenagers, ALAT Xplore offers debit cards in the teen’s own name, allowing young users to begin their financial journey with a sense of independence. Accessible globally, the app welcomes teens both within and outside Nigeria, provided their parents set up ALAT Xplore accounts for them on the ALAT platform.

With the ALAT Xplore App, Wema Bank is leading the way in fostering financial literacy among Nigerian youth, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to navigate their financial futures with confidence.
