FintechNGR Elects New Leadership as Dr. Stanley Jacob Emerges President

Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR) has concluded its 2024 elections, ushering in new leadership with the election of Dr. Stanley Jacob, CEO of Zest Payments Limited, as the association’s President. The election, widely recognized for its fairness and transparency, represents a pivotal moment in the association’s governance, marking the transition from the leadership of Mr. Ade Bajomo, whose tenure will end in the coming weeks.

This change in leadership is seen as a significant milestone for FintechNGR, as it seeks to strengthen its role in shaping the future of financial technology in Nigeria. Commenting on the election, Dr. Segun Aina, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, praised the outgoing leadership for their commitment and success in laying a strong foundation for the association. He further congratulated the new Governing Council, urging them to continue advancing the association’s goals and fostering global collaboration.

Outgoing President, Mr. Ade Bajomo, commended the seamless electoral process and expressed confidence in the newly elected council’s ability to drive the continued growth of Nigeria’s fintech ecosystem. Mrs. Bunmi Lawson, Chairperson of the Electoral Committee, also extended her appreciation to the outgoing council for their dedicated service, while congratulating the incoming leadership.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Stanley Jacob stated, “I am honored to be entrusted with the leadership of FintechNGR and excited to build on the strong foundation established by Ade and the outgoing Governing Council.”

Other key officers elected alongside Dr. Jacob include Dr. Jameelah Sharrieff-Ayedun, CEO of Credit Registry, as Vice President; Tiwa Osazuwa, Partner at AELEX, as General Secretary; and Oluwaseun Adesanya, CEO of Vsured, as Treasurer.

The newly elected Governing Council also features prominent industry figures such as Yinka Edu (Partner, UUBO), Odun Eweniyi (Co-founder, PiggyVest), Dr. Funmi Babington-Ashaye (CEO, Risk Analyst), Yemi Keri (CEO, Herkerbella), Abiola Jimoh (Co-founder, Xchangebox), Deremi Atanda (Managing Director, Remita), and Gbenga Paseda (Managing Director, VFD Tech).

Additional council members include Lanre Oladimeji (Group Head, Retail, Zenith Bank), Akin Morakinyo (Registrar, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria), Aituaz Kola-Oladejo (Executive Director, Financial Services Innovators), Henry Obiekea (CEO, FairMoney), Dr. Habiba Adamu Kakudi (Associate Professor, Bayero University Kano), Dr. Bisi Aina (CEO, Soft Alliance & Resources Limited), Dr. Usman Abdullahi (Former Director ITIS, NITDA), Rakiya Mohammed (Former Director ICT, Central Bank of Nigeria), and Dr. Babatunde Obrimah (COO, FintechNGR).

With its new leadership, FintechNGR aims to continue its mission of driving the growth and development of Nigeria’s fintech industry while fostering innovation and collaboration at both national and global levels.
