The Yoruba entertainment industry mourns the loss of one of its beloved stars as veteran actor Sule Suebebe, known for his comedic roles, passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. The news was confirmed by popular Ibadan-based cleric and philanthropist, Ademola Amusan, widely known as “Agbala Gabriel”, who shared the somber update on his Facebook page, “Agbala Gabriel Global Page”.
Expressing condolences, Amusan, the founder of Agbala Gabriel Apostolic Church, wrote, “It’s a pity, Baba Suebebe died at the hospital this morning. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
Sule Suebebe, affectionately called Baba Suebebe, was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, having appeared in over 100 movies. Among his notable works are the popular films “Suku Suku Bam Bam” (2004) and “Ago Kan Oru” (2003), where he showcased his remarkable talent and comedic timing, endearing himself to audiences across Nigeria.
In addition to his acting prowess, Suebebe was also recognized for his versatility as an MC, TV presenter, and content creator. He managed a vibrant YouTube channel, Suebebe TV, dedicated to promoting Yoruba culture and language through his original productions.
The actor’s health struggles had been public knowledge, with reports indicating that Amusan had been actively involved in fundraising efforts for his medical expenses. Notably, in 2023, the cleric facilitated the provision of a new home for Suebebe, demonstrating his commitment to supporting the ailing actor during his time of need.
