Globacom Announces Sponsorship of Ojude Oba Festival 2024

Digital solutions provider Globacom has announced its sponsorship of the Ojude Oba Festival for this year, set to take place in Ijebu Ode on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

At a pre-event press conference held at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Globacom’s representative, Mr. Kazeem Kaka, emphasized the company’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. He stated, “Globacom’s sponsorship of festivals is aimed at identifying with the cultures and traditions of the Nigerian people, being an indigenous company. By sponsoring Ojude Oba and other Nigerian festivals with huge tourism potentials, such as Ofala of Onitsha Kingdom, Globacom is helping to promote the cause of tourism in the country.”

Mr. Kaka highlighted that Globacom’s collaboration with the custodians of the festival showcases the company’s interest in the cultural activities, traditions, and events that unite Nigerians. He added that Globacom is dedicated to promoting the tourism potential of Nigeria through such initiatives, which also express the company’s commitment to the nation’s unity by celebrating the customs and cultures of its people.

Chief Olu Okuboyejo, Chairman of the Ojude Oba Planning Committee, lauded Globacom for its unwavering support of the historic celebration during the press conference. He praised the company’s dedication to the festival, noting that this year’s edition, themed “Unity and Harmony in Ijebuland…The gift of Ojude Oba,” marks the 18th year of Globacom’s sponsorship. Glo is recognized as the largest corporate supporter of traditional and cultural events in Nigeria.

Ojude Oba, celebrated annually two days after the Islamic Eid El-Kabir celebration, is a significant social event that fosters the social, political, and economic development of the Ijebu area. Globacom’s support underscores its role in promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage and tourism sector.
