A wave of controversy has engulfed Lead British International School as student Namtira Bwala, who was subjected to a harrowing assault captured in a viral video, has taken a stand by enlisting legal representation. In a bold move, her attorneys from Deji Adeyanju and Partners Law Firm have dispatched a stern letter to the school, urging swift action to address the bullying incident and impose sanctions on the perpetrators within 48 hours.

The legal missive highlights a troubling pattern of bullying within the school, underscoring the management’s alleged failure to address parental concerns regarding the safety and well-being of students. The lawyers unequivocally reject the school’s characterization of the assault as a mere ‘incident between minors,’ emphasizing Bwala’s trauma and the urgent need for accountability.

With at least 11 students implicated in the assault on Bwala, the legal team has demanded a thorough investigation and the imposition of severe sanctions on the identified bullies, including Ms. Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine others allegedly involved in a culture of bullying at Lead British International School in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

Failure to comply with the demands outlined in the letter could result in the school facing legal repercussions as Bwala pursues justice for the ordeal she endured. While the school has initiated an investigative panel and provided counseling to both the victim and aggressors, the gravity of the situation has prompted widespread public outcry and calls for decisive action.

In a significant development, Women Affairs Minister Uju Kennedy has intervened by ordering the school to shut down for three days to facilitate a thorough investigation into the disturbing incident. The move underscores the government’s commitment to upholding the rights and safety of students in educational institutions, signaling a zero-tolerance stance against bullying and misconduct.
