Tune in to CNN International this weekend for the latest episode of African Voices Changemakers, featuring Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, popularly known as Simi.
Presented by Globacom, the 30-minute program will showcase Simi’s inspiring journey in the music industry, sharing the stories behind her notable achievements.
Born on April 19, 1988, in Lagos, Simi began her career as a gospel artist, releasing her debut album “Ogaju” in 2008. She rose to fame in 2014 with the release of “Tiff,” a song nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015. In 2014, she signed with X3M Music, later establishing her own record label, Studio Brat, in June 2019.
Simi’s musical prowess is highlighted by her albums “Simisola” (2017) and “Omo Charlie Champagne,” Vol. 1 (2019), released on her 31st birthday. Apart from her musical endeavors, Simi served as a judge on Season 7 of Nigerian Idol in 2022.
Married to singer Adekunle Gold since January 9, 2019, Simi welcomed her first child, daughter Adejare, on May 30, 2020.
