Covenant University Retains Top Spot in Nigeria: Times Higher Education 2024 Ranking Reveals

Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, has once again claimed the title of the best university in Nigeria for the second consecutive time, surpassing prestigious institutions like the University of Ibadan and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, according to the latest Times Higher Education 2024 ranking. The university has also solidified its global reputation by securing a spot among the top 1,000 universities in the world, ranking at 801st place.

This achievement marks a continued success story for Covenant University, which first made waves in 2018 when it was recognized as the best university in Nigeria and the sixth-best university overall. Following closely behind, the University of Ibadan secured the second position in the country, with the Federal University of Technology, Akure, coming in third.

The Times Higher Education World University ranking encompasses 1,904 universities spanning across 108 countries and regions. Noteworthy mentions among the top-ranking universities in Nigeria include the University of Ilorin, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Afe Babalola University, and the University of Benin, among others. Impressively, out of the top 15 universities, nine are situated in the South West, two in the South East, two in the South-South, one in the North West, and one in the North Central region, showcasing a diverse representation across the country.
