Dr. Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, has given assurance that the autopsy results for the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, will be available within the next three to four weeks. This update was shared during his testimony at a coroner’s inquiry investigating the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
The inquest, which began on October 13, 2023, at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, has been delving into the controversial passing of the 27-year-old musician, who was laid to rest the day after his demise on September 12, 2023. The Lagos State Government initiated the coroner’s inquiry in response to the public outcry surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death.
During the inquiry, Somiari assured the Coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, that the forensic team is diligently exploring various possibilities to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death, including investigating the potential involvement of poison due to the absence of a specific cause mentioned.
Furthermore, the forensic expert emphasized the stringent security and monitoring protocols in place to safeguard the integrity of the autopsy samples, ensuring accurate and reliable results. He highlighted the meticulous procedures for handling and transporting samples abroad for further analysis.
In another testimony, Mr. Sadiq Ayobami, also known as Spendy, revealed details of his interactions with the deceased, stating that he last saw Mohbad the day before his passing after attending a performance together in Ikorodu.
Additionally, activist Mrs. Abiodun Kolawole advised the deceased’s parents to address any concerns regarding the singer’s child’s paternity through legal channels rather than resorting to social media platforms.
The Coroner, Magistrate T. A. Shotobi, adjourned the case until April 15, directing all involved parties to be present on the scheduled date for further proceedings and updates on the investigation into Mohbad’s tragic death.
