Following the resounding success of the inaugural West Africa Telecoms Summit and Exhibition (WATISE), anticipation mounts for the upcoming second edition, WATISE 2.0, as announced by TechnologyMirror, a prominent ICT and Telecoms news platform.
Scheduled to take place in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, the Convener, Isaiah Erhiawarien, disclosed that WATISE 2.0 will be held under the theme “Shaping the Future of the Telecoms Infrastructure Industry: Trends and Insights for a Digital Economy”.
This year’s summit will spotlight the digital economy, focusing on the funding challenges confronting the industry, especially in rural telephony, and the imperative for green energy deployment to mitigate the power generation crisis.
Set to convene on April 18th at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, WATISE 2.0 is poised to assemble key stakeholders from the industry, including the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, slated to deliver the keynote address. Additionally, Engr Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman of the Association Licensed Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ALTON), will present a significant paper during the event.
Endorsed by the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ALTON), with ICTLOCA, Nigeria’s local content advocacy group, as the technical partner, WATISE 2.0 will feature three panel discussions, Strategies for Expanding Telecom Infrastructure, The Big Data Issues, Digital Economy, and Infrastructure Funding Challenges in the Telecoms Industry, Trends, Insights, and Solutions in Business Automation & Quest for Green Infrastructure.
Erhiawarien emphasized that WATISE 2.0 offers a platform for stakeholders to engage in discussions, share insights, and explore digital transformations pertinent to telecommunications infrastructure, including Submarine, Connectivity, Security, Datacenter landscape, Internet Exchange, and market trends shaping the industry’s trajectory.
“The summit serves as a nexus for telecommunications operators, regulators, industry organizations, policymakers, government agencies, and consumers to deliberate on infrastructure trends, challenges, and solutions,” Erhiawarien remarked.
Targeting telecoms companies, 4G/5G service providers, tower manufacturers, policymakers, regulators, and power solution providers, the summit aims to redefine the future of telecom services in the region by prioritizing reliability, protection, deployment, and operation of telecommunications infrastructure.
