The 30 startups that will participate in an intensive, virtual boot camp between January 24th and February 18th, 2022, have been announced by Bridge to MassChallenge Nigeria (B2MC Nigeria), a NITDA-sponsored national startup competition that identifies and accelerates the most high-impact startups across Nigeria.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and MassChallenge, a global network for innovators based in the United States of America, collaborated on B2MC Nigeria. Participating businesses will receive access to customized mentoring and coaching from NITDA and MassChallenge mentors, as well as a designed curriculum, focused on their requirements and concentrating on global best practices in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as access to the MassChallenge global network. The top 30 businesses were chosen via a rigorous online selection process that included both local Nigerian innovation experts and professionals from the MassChallenge network.

The boot camp will conclude with a pitch competition to choose the top 10 entrepreneurs who will receive customized assistance and connectivity into a MassChallenge innovation hotspot such as Boston, MA, through a second boot camp.

“Startups play a critical role in every country’s economic progress by sparking innovation, introducing competition, and creating jobs.” Nigeria’s rapidly growing population provides inventive businesses with an opportunity to tap into a massive market by developing and implementing viable solutions that address recognized micro and macroeconomic national concerns. According to Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, NITDA’s Director General/CEO, “the B2MC program will help facilitate the diversification of the economy and the transformation of every aspect of modern life to achieve our key objectives of improving and expanding the economy, in line with the Nigeria Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria (2020-2030) and NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (2021-2024).”
With this partnership, NITDA and MassChallenge are actively pursuing their goal to support entrepreneurs from underrepresented regions and across geopolitical zones, resulting in a more fair distribution of and access to crucial resources for company growth.

The B2MC Nigeria selection drive is industry agnostic, thus a wide range of applications was received from the agricultural, Info-Tech, transport, finance industries to name a few. Applications from the six geopolitical regions were captured to provide an equitable playing field for our startups that will be supported, both within Nigeria and internationally.

“The B2MC Nigeria 2021 program’s initial boot camp is aimed to hunt for the best of Nigerian innovations in order to assist them to survive and grow inside the Nigerian ecosystem and beyond. We’re delighted to see the top 30 startups represent a varied range of industries, from agriculture to health tech, and to be able to collaborate with NITDA to help these businesses succeed,” said Siobhan Dullea, CEO of MassChallenge.
