Lagos Hosts Its First Motor Show, With Earnings Going To Charity

All preparations are in full swing for the inaugural Lagos Motor Show, and the organizers have chosen to donate a portion of the show’s revenues to charitable causes, making it the first of its type.

On Thursday, February 8, 2024, at The Large House in Ikorodu, Lagos, this was revealed during a press conference.

The Lagos Motor Show will feature an exhibition of modern, classic, and vintage cars as well as eco-friendly electric vehicles, robotics and autonomous vehicles, electric tricycles, and e-mobility, according to Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman and Chief Promoter of the Show.

The tech giant went on to say that the two-day event is slated to take place on Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan Lagos, Main Arena.

“A portion of the proceeds from this event and its associated activities will be donated to charitable causes,” stated Adebayo.

Additionally, he said that the Classic Car Collectors of Nigeria, a group of more than 100 aficionados and collectors of classic and antique cars, would display their collections.

Adebayo went on to say that the Expo would feature classic cars that evoked “nostalgia” and would also highlight the latest trends and innovations in the automotive industry. The organizers of the event said they expect over 2,000 visitors over the two days. The Expo would also feature new innovations and developments in the auto industry, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles, energy-efficient cars, electric vehicles, and low-emission vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).

Dignitaries expected at the event include His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwolu, who would be the Chief Host, and the Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, His Excellency, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who would be the Special Guest of Honour.

Other dignitaries expected at the event include the governors of Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Bauchi,, and Jigawa States. Chief Olu Okeowo, Founder and Chairman of Gibraltar Constructions Company Limited, a Car Enthusiasts, is also expected among other dignitaries.

The Royal father of the day is His Royal Highness, Barrister Mohammed Sanni Haliru Dantoro CFR. Kitoro IV. (Mai Borgu) the Emir of Borgu Kingdom.

Adebayo stated that motor companies, Motor Boat Companies, Car Collectors, and Transport Logistics companies are also expected at the event. “The event will be an exciting opportunity to bring together car enthusiasts and their families, purchasers, decision makers and dealers.”

He also spoke on the objectives of the Motor Show “Our aim is that the show will be an annual event that will attract thousands of automotive enthusiasts, industry professionals, and media representatives.

“The much awaited event in Nigeria’s automotive calendar will offer corporate brands unrivaled exposure to decision-makers, influencers, and prospective clients. It will draw a sizable crowd of visitors who are buyers of cars, decision-makers, auto aficionados, banks, insurance providers, small-scale auto businesses, and representatives of international trade missions, he said.

Speaking on the targeted audience, Adebayo said that “this is an opportunity to engage with a diverse audience, including car enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential buyers, offering brands the chance to connect with a broad range of demographics. The Show will offer an opportunity to interact with

haulage, logistics, car hire companies, digital taxi companies, passenger transporters, financial institutions, insurance, loan companies, and other potential buyers and decision makers.”

He also mentioned the chance for networking that attendees of the Motor Show have. Take part in special networking events to establish connections in a dynamic and engaging setting with important decision-makers, industry professionals, haulage, logistics, car rental firms, passenger transporters, and new clients. Attendees will include corporate entities such as banks, insurance providers, financiers, auto entrepreneurs, and representatives from international corporations and foreign trade missions.

 

Adebayo revealed that there would be excellent security during the event. “Ease of entrance and egress to the venue and complete assurance of security and safety for the entire exhibition area will be provided in collaboration with the Lagos State Government Agencies, Security, and Traffic Management Agencies.
