A graduate named Precious Ogbeide, who obtained a degree from Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma, Edo State, recently made headlines for an alleged suicide attempt. This distressing incident is said to be a consequence of the university’s purported refusal to provide him and several other students with their results, despite them completing their studies in 2018.

In response to these allegations, the university’s Head of Corporate Communications and Protocol, Mike Aladenika, has stated that the students experiencing problems with their certificates and results may have encountered difficulties with certain courses during their tenure at the institution.

“If you had graduated and done all you were asked to do while you were a student, you would not have problems with your results.

“Some of the students who did not take cognizance of the deficiencies they had with their courses are the ones facing these challenges,” Aladenika stated.

Ogbeide’s parents asserted that he had been grappling with depression as a result of not receiving his results after spending five years in school. This made him begin to stab himself with pieces of a bottle he had broken. A source close to the family said the incident happened on Monday.

“I received a call at about 3:30 pm on Monday that Ogbeinde had been rushed to the hospital. I was told he had been showing signs of depression and that they had tried to help in every possible way they could.
