In a remarkable development that highlights the potential of young talent in Nigeria, Orire Agbaje, a distinguished 400-level Economics student at the University of Ibadan (UI), has been appointed as a member of the prestigious presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms. This significant appointment was made by President Bola Tinubu, underscoring Agbaje’s exceptional capabilities and proven leadership in the realm of taxation and fiscal matters.

Agbaje’s journey into the echelons of policy-making and reform began with her prominent role as the president of The Tax Club at the University of Ibadan, showcasing her deep understanding of tax-related matters. Her influence and impact also extend to the position of president of the Nigerian Universities Tax Club, a testament to her remarkable reach in the field.

President Tinubu emphasized the urgency for swift reforms in his address to the committee. “The Committee, in the first instance, is expected to deliver a schedule of quick reforms that can be implemented within thirty days,” he stated. He further underscored the importance of recommending critical reform measures within six months, with a comprehensive implementation timeline extending over a full calendar year.

At the helm of this crucial committee is Taiwo Oyedele, a distinguished tax and fiscal policy expert.
