Sunday Dare, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, was at the ‘Futball City,’ built by the Portuguese Football Federation as the home of Portuguese football.
Dare was shown around the massive facility by Ana Catrina, Minister of Sports in Portugal, Teresa Romao, General Secretary and Vice President of the Portuguese Football Federation, and Humberto Coelho.
Dare praised the Portuguese Football Federation for executing the football masterpiece in 17 months, all by themselves, after studying the reasoning that gave birth to Portugal’s ‘City of Futball.’
The ‘City of Futbol,’ which houses four(4) football pitches, a football university, forty five(45) executive rooms for players, two (2) fully equipped gyms, eleven(11) changing rooms, and other modern facilities, is the training center for all National Teams in Portugal.
Dare had previously visited Benfica’s headquarters and Estádio da Luz on Friday. He stated that Nigeria’s sporting infrastructure must continue to evolve in order to meet global standards, and his vision for reviving existing sports facilities in the country is to lay the groundwork for a continuous step-by-step transformation of sports infrastructure in Nigeria.
