In a remarkable display of philanthropy and dedication to improving the well-being of police officers and their families, the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, proudly accepted a state-of-the-art Barracks Inspection Bus donated by the Sanomi Foundation. The generous donation, made possible through the commitment of Mr. Igho Charles Sanomi, a philanthropist with a strong familial connection to law enforcement, was officially launched on July 15, 2023.

The ceremony, which took place in the presence of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), emphasized the critical importance of maintaining officers’ hygiene and overall wellness within the force. The event served as a testament to the commitment of both POWA and the Sanomi Foundation in their joint mission to improve the living conditions and health of police officers across the country.

The Barracks Inspection Bus is equipped with modern facilities and amenities, making it a fully functional mobile platform for conducting comprehensive inspections of police barracks nationwide. Its primary purpose is to address issues related to officers’ hygiene, living conditions, and wellness. By providing a conducive environment for necessary evaluations and interventions, the bus will play a pivotal role in identifying areas that require improvement and facilitating targeted interventions.

During the launch, the IGP emphasized the significance of prioritizing officers’ health and encouraged them to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Acknowledging the challenges faced by law enforcement personnel, the IGP pledged increased support for POWA’s welfare agenda and reiterated the Force’s commitment to providing better living conditions and wellness programs for officers. This strategic initiative aligns with the broader goal of enhancing the physical and mental well-being of police officers, ultimately leading to improved performance and enhanced public safety.
