It was a morning of song, dance, and heartfelt gratitude in Warri, Delta State, as thousands of women from across the region gathered at Urhobo College for a special act of kindness. Under the banner of “Giving Back Together,” the Glo Foundation brought relief and joy to women bearing the weight of economic hardship, a gesture that turned an ordinary weekend into a memorable celebration of hope.
From Warri North and South to Ughelli, Udu, and Uvwie, women of all ages, widows, mothers, and caregivers, trooped in after the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise, eager to receive food packs thoughtfully prepared to ease their daily struggles.
The outreach, part of Globacom’s nationwide intervention programme, is designed to support the most vulnerable members of society, particularly women, who often carry the heaviest burdens during tough economic times.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, Globacom’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, explained the heart behind the initiative:
“Our Food Drive is not just for anyone. It is targeted at the most vulnerable segment of the Nigerian society, women and children. When we help them, we are helping the society at large.”
Each food pack contained 5kg of rice, 5kg of garri, semovita, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, sardines, seasoning cubes, noodles, and other daily essentials, practical items that bring immediate relief to homes and families.
For many, the gesture was deeply emotional. Princess Omo-Udoyo from Ughelli North couldn’t hold back her joy:
“I have not seen this before. I thank God and Glo Foundation for this gift.”
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Esther Okoro from Otu Jeremi, offered heartfelt prayers in gratitude:
“God will lift the company and the people who have done this. They will never lack anything. For doing this for us today, may God protect and bless them always.”
The atmosphere was electric, filled with songs of praise, laughter, and the hum of community spirit as women embraced the rare moment of support and solidarity.
This stop in Delta State follows similar food drives in other parts of Nigeria, and the Foundation is set to extend the initiative to more cities in the months ahead, reaching thousands more women with essential supplies and a renewed sense of hope.
Through “Giving Back Together,” Glo Foundation continues to remind Nigerians that compassion and community remain the cornerstones of true progress, one food pack, one grateful heart at a time.
