As Nigeria strengthens its position as Africa’s leading technology hub, cybersecurity remains a national priority. To proactively address emerging threats and build digital resilience, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), has announced the inaugural National Cybersecurity Conference (NCSC 2025), scheduled to hold from 9th–10th July 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria.
During a press conference at the NITDA Headquarters in Abuja, the Director-General of NITDA emphasized the growing importance of cybersecurity as Nigeria continues its transformation into a digitally driven economy. He highlighted the dual nature of the digital age: immense opportunities for innovation and development, alongside pressing risks such as cybercrime, data breaches, and threats to national infrastructure.
With the theme “Securing Nigeria’s Digital Future: Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience,” the conference is set to be a premier platform for strategic engagement, knowledge-sharing, and the fostering of critical partnerships. Organized in partnership with QNA International, Dubai, a global leader in industry events—the hybrid two-day event promises a world-class experience that meets global standards, with participation from public and private sector stakeholders.
The conference will feature live technical sessions, workshops, and product exhibitions; keynotes and panel discussions with global cybersecurity experts; a “Capture the Flag” (CTF) hackathon to empower young Nigerian talent; networking opportunities for key sector players; and an award dinner to celebrate outstanding contributions to cybersecurity in Nigeria.
The strategic objectives of the conference include strengthening Nigeria’s cyber resilience and protection of critical digital infrastructure; facilitating international cooperation in combating cybercrime; promoting cybersecurity innovation and workforce development; fostering inter-agency and multi-sectoral coordination; and encouraging youth participation and talent discovery through competitive engagements.
As Nigeria rapidly emerges as a leading tech hub in Africa, the event underscores the country’s commitment to addressing new vulnerabilities. It reaffirms Nigeria’s leadership in shaping cybersecurity policy and innovation across the continent.
The NITDA DG extended a formal invitation to all stakeholders—including government agencies, private sector players, academia, civil society, and the media—to participate actively in building a more secure digital Nigeria.
“This is more than a conference—it’s a national mission. We count on your voices, your expertise, and your commitment to make Nigeria a global leader in cybersecurity,” he stated.
The media was also acknowledged for its critical role in educating the public and amplifying national initiatives. Members of the press were called upon to support awareness campaigns ahead of the event to ensure that the message of digital vigilance reaches every household.
