The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has commenced a week-long intensive training on ASPEN Plus, a leading process simulation software, at its Virtual Manufacturing Lab in Abuja. This initiative marks a critical step in NASENI’s efforts to enhance technical expertise in renewable energy and engineering design.
The hybrid training, held across NASENI’s Development Institutes, is designed to equip 50 selected engineers and biochemists with advanced tools for process design, optimization, and simulation. It is part of NASENI’s broader strategy to develop technical capacity for sustainable energy solutions.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Chika Ezeanyanso, Deputy Director of the Nano Science Department and representative of the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of NASENI, highlighted the agency’s commitment to providing its personnel with cutting-edge knowledge. She stressed that this training will drive innovation in renewable energy, with a particular focus on biogas technology.
Dr. Ezeanyanso also expressed gratitude to the EVC for his continued support of initiatives that position NASENI at the forefront of technological advancement. She emphasized that the skills gained during the training will empower participants to design more efficient biogas plants and other renewable energy systems.
Engr. Anas Yazid Balarabe, Special Adviser to the EVC on Science and Engineering Commercialization, urged participants to bridge the gap between research and commercialization. He noted that the knowledge acquired from the ASPEN Plus training would contribute to the development of marketable energy solutions, aligning with Nigeria’s sustainable development goals.
This training follows the successful completion of NASENI’s Biogas and Biomethanol Plant Design Training, held in collaboration with SRH Berlin University, and is part of NASENI’s ongoing efforts to enhance its staff’s technical capabilities in renewable energy design and commercialization.
Participants are encouraged to apply their newfound expertise in advancing NASENI’s renewable energy initiatives, furthering Nigeria’s energy sustainability and technological growth.
