The family of the late Ogbuefi Dominic Udegbunem Nweke, a respected community leader, has announced his funeral arrangements in celebration of his life following his passing at the age of 91. A statement from his son, Sir Remmy Nweke, Group Executive Editor of ITREALMS Media Group, outlined the details of the final rites, set to take place from October 24 to October 27, 2024.
The funeral will begin with a wake on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the family compound in Umuokpe village, Awba-Ofemili, Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The main funeral event will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, with a requiem mass at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s field, Oye-Agu, near the Central School in Umuokpe Village. The mass will be led by Rev. Fr. Joseph Nwilo, the Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Following the service, there will be condolence visits from religious groups, in-laws, friends, and well-wishers.
On Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Ndi Nze n’Ozo, Lolos, and Age Grades will pay their condolences, while Sunday, October 27, 2024, will feature a thanksgiving mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Awba-Ofemili, at 10 a.m.
Ogbuefi Dominic Udegbunem Nweke, also known as Ozo Sopuluchukwu of Awba-Ofemili, passed away on August 9, 2024, at the Regina Caeli Hospital in Awka. He was the patriarch of the Ozo Nweke kindred in Umuosite village, known for his hard work, frankness, and deep reverence for God, symbolized by his Ozo Sopuluchukwu title.
He is survived by his wife, Princess Christiana Nweke, his children, in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy of leadership and dedication to his community will be remembered fondly.
