Alhaji Bako Bala, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, was abducted and subsequently killed by armed assailants. The disturbing news was shared via a post on the official Facebook page of Alhaji Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa, the Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor on Television and Radio.

According to the report, Bala was kidnapped in his hometown, where the gunmen shot him and left him in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, but tragically succumbed to his gunshot wounds later that day.

In a related development, bandits also targeted Matseri village in the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where they allegedly kidnapped an individual and shot a young man, who is currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

Efforts to reach the Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for comments on these incidents were unsuccessful.

The recent violence underscores a worrying trend in Kebbi State, which has seen a surge in kidnappings for ransom in recent months. This alarming situation persists despite the ongoing efforts of security forces, bolstered by state government initiatives, aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and rescuing victims. The local community continues to grapple with concerns over safety and security amid this rising tide of violence.
