The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the official registrar for the .ng country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD), has officially announced the upcoming Tech Convergence 1.0, a two-day conference and exhibition set to take place on November 28-29, 2024, at the Muson Centre in Onikan, Lagos. This inaugural event will become an annual highlight, aligning with the 7th edition of NiRA’s awards also scheduled for November.
As Nigeria’s digital landscape continues to grow, it has been marked by an influx of innovation. However, various challenges persist that hinder the sector’s full potential for growth and international competitiveness. NiRA has recognized the importance of addressing these challenges collaboratively, leading to the conception of Tech Convergence 1.0. This event aims to serve as a platform for stakeholders to share ideas, foster innovation, and drive forward Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
Under the theme “Innovating Nigeria’s Digital Future Through Tech and Creativity,” the conference will examine how advancements in technology—particularly within the Domain Name System (DNS) and digital content—can accelerate Nigeria’s development as a digital powerhouse. The event will create an environment conducive to innovation, providing stakeholders with opportunities to collaborate and promote the growth of the internet and DNS industries, specifically through the adoption of the .ng domain.
Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, President of NiRA, remarked on the significance of the event: “Tech Convergence 1.0 represents a crucial opportunity for our digital community to unite and chart a path for Nigeria’s digital future. Our progress hinges on our ability to adapt, innovate, and collaborate effectively today. The .ng domain is a vital tool for driving business growth and enhancing our nation’s global digital footprint.”
The event will feature a variety of activities, including exhibitions, plenary sessions, masterclasses, networking opportunities, virtual reality games, raffle draws, and meet-and-greets with partners. Registration is now open and is free for all attendees, inviting businesses, innovators, digital creators, government agencies, corporate organizations, and tech enthusiasts to participate in shaping Nigeria’s digital landscape.
In addition to exhibitions, attendees can look forward to insightful panel discussions led by industry experts, covering critical topics such as digital innovation, content creation, and the integration of emerging technologies. Exhibitors are encouraged to showcase their products and services, leveraging this event to highlight the latest innovations within Nigeria’s digital space to a diverse audience.
Recognizing the vital role of collaboration, NiRA is actively seeking sponsors and partners to enhance the success of this event. Interested organizations can explore various sponsorship options on NiRA’s official website. By partnering with NiRA and other key players in the ecosystem, sponsors can broaden their networks and connect with influential figures in Nigeria’s digital arena.
