The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has launched the Presidential CNG Initiative’s (Pi-CNG) Conversion Incentive Program, targeting the ride-share industry. The event, held at NASENI’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Engineering, Training, and Conversion facility in Utako, also saw the introduction of the MY-CNG App.
The program, overseen by NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, underscores the agency’s dedication to technology-driven solutions aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s energy landscape. The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo, Minister of State for Gas, Petroleum Resources, and other notable figures, including Dr. Muhammed Bulama, representing the Minister for Information and National Orientation.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Halilu highlighted the strategic importance of the Pi-CNG initiative in Nigeria’s ongoing gas revolution, emphasizing its role in shaping the country’s energy future. “This partnership with Portland and Dana Motors aligns with NASENI’s vision to deliver market-ready solutions that lower living costs, enhance quality of life, and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Halilu stated.

The newly launched Conversion Incentive Program offers a 50% discount to Uber and Bolt drivers who sign up on the MY-CNG App, making it easier for them to switch to cleaner, more affordable CNG fuel. Halilu pointed out that this initiative could reduce transportation costs by up to 70%, providing significant savings for vehicle owners amidst current economic challenges.
The NASENI CEO also praised the collaborative efforts of partners Pi-CNG, Portland, and Dana Motors in bringing this initiative to fruition. “Together, we are poised to transform Nigeria’s energy and transportation sectors,” he asserted.
The event marks another milestone in NASENI’s mission to drive national transformation through technological innovation, supporting key national goals such as energy efficiency, job creation, and economic sustainability.
