NCC Partners NITRA for ICT Growth Conference 4.0

The Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association (NITRA) is gearing up for its fourth edition of the ICT Growth Conference, scheduled to take place at the Citiheight Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on August 8, 2024. This year’s conference, themed “Impact of AI On National Development: Prospects, Policies, and Challenges in Nigeria,” aims to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and its implications for national development.

Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), is set to lead the event. Dr. Maida will be joined by industry regulators, decision-makers, and key stakeholders from both the private and public sectors to discuss strategies for leveraging AI to drive growth in Nigeria’s ICT sector.

NITRA Chairman Mr. Chike Onwuegbuchi emphasized the conference’s focus on complementing government and private sector efforts towards a digitalized Nigeria, particularly through advancements in AI. The conference will address themes such as “Driving Sub-Sectoral Digital Growth With Artificial Intelligence” and “Navigating the Dangers of AI In A Developing Economy: Role of Public and Private Stakeholders.”

Mr. Onwuegbuchi expressed his appreciation for the support and enthusiasm of the stakeholders, highlighting the conference’s role in reassessing and refining policies to maximize AI growth in Nigeria. “This is a growth conference,” he stated, “and stakeholders will have the opportunity to voice their perspectives on growth indices and impactful policies.”

The event is expected to attract prominent figures including the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; NCC’s EVC Dr. Aminu Maida; NITDA Director-General Mr. Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi; as well as CEOs from both government and private ICT firms. Media representatives, including NITRA’s full membership, and other industry stakeholders such as COOs, CIOs, CFOs, CROs, and CCOs will also be in attendance.

Mr. Chidiebere Nwankwo, General Secretary of NITRA, confirmed that industry associations like ALTON, ATCON, and NiRA will contribute their insights and perspectives to the discussions.

The NITRA ICT Growth Conference 4.0 promises to be a pivotal event in shaping Nigeria’s digital future and advancing AI integration across the economy.
