MTN Nigeria has officially announced the commencement of entries for Season 2 of its Next Afrobeats Star (NAS) reality music competition, reaffirming its commitment to discovering, nurturing and empowering the next generation of Nigerian music talents.

The music reality show, produced in partnership with Ultima Studios and ONErpm, returns following the remarkable success of its maiden edition, which produced outstanding young artistes and provided them with the platform, mentorship and industry exposure required to launch professional music careers.

Building on the achievements of Season 1, the second edition promises a richer experience with expanded prizes, greater industry exposure and more opportunities for aspiring Afrobeats stars across Nigeria. The initiative is designed to identify exceptional musical talent from grassroots communities and connect them to the mainstream entertainment industry through professional training, mentorship and performance opportunities.

Speaking on the return of the competition, Emamoke Ogoro, General Manager, Brands and Communication, MTN Nigeria, described Next Afrobeats Star as a strategic platform that demonstrates MTN’s long-standing commitment to youth empowerment through creativity and innovation.

According to her, the maiden edition proved that the initiative is much more than a reality television show, as it successfully transformed aspiring musicians into emerging professionals with real industry prospects.

“Season 1 was our proof. Our contestants did not simply gain exposure; they released original music now available on major global streaming platforms. They left the competition owning their intellectual property, with industry credentials and meaningful relationships in a music industry that now knows their names.”

Ogoro explained that while Season 2 comes with enhanced rewards and a more exciting competition, the most significant value lies in the opportunities it creates for participants.

“As we return for Season 2, the most significant change is not the size of the prize; it is the size of the door it opens. We are opening that door even wider by connecting grassroots talent to a national stage.”

She further noted that the competition aligns with MTN Nigeria’s broader vision of supporting Nigeria’s growing creative economy by investing in platforms that inspire innovation, develop talent and create sustainable opportunities for young people.

According to her, beyond entertainment, Next Afrobeats Star is a reflection of MTN’s dedication to creating lasting impact through strategic partnerships that empower Nigerian youths to transform their talents into viable careers.

The reality show offers participants an opportunity to receive professional mentorship from leading music industry experts, refine their artistic abilities, gain national recognition and access valuable industry networks capable of accelerating their musical journeys.

With Afrobeats continuing to enjoy global recognition and influence, MTN Nigeria believes the initiative will contribute significantly to producing the next generation of internationally acclaimed Nigerian music stars while strengthening the country’s vibrant creative ecosystem.

The opening of entries for Season 2 marks another milestone in MTN Nigeria’s continued investment in youth development and the creative industry, reinforcing its role as a leading supporter of innovation, talent discovery and digital entertainment in Nigeria.

As applications open nationwide, aspiring artistes are encouraged to seize the opportunity to showcase their talents and compete for life-changing rewards while positioning themselves for success in one of Africa’s fastest-growing entertainment industries.
