SanDisk has announced the next generation of its portable SSD portfolio, introducing a three-tier lineup engineered to handle larger file sizes, AI-generated content, and increasingly demanding digital workflows. The refreshed range includes the SanDisk Portable SSD, SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD, and SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD.
Delivering nearly twice the speed of its predecessor along with enhanced durability, the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is available starting today, while the remaining products in the lineup are expected to roll out later this year.

It enables rapid file transfers—such as moving up to 1,000 high-resolution photos in under 60 seconds—making it ideal for active creative workflows. Available in 1TB to 4TB capacities, with a projected 500GB model.
SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD
Targeted at professional photographers, filmmakers, and designers, the Extreme PRO model is built for demanding, multi-stream creative workflows, including real-time editing of high-resolution media. With transfer speeds of up to 4,000MB/s, it can move up to 10 minutes of 12K video in under a minute. Available in 2TB to 4TB capacities, with an 8TB model projected.

Created for students, office professionals, and home users, this model offers dependable, portable storage for everyday content such as documents, photos, and videos. Delivering read speeds of up to 1,000MB/s, it provides a compact, easy-to-carry solution for use at home, school, or on the go. Available in 1TB to 2TB capacities, with a projected 500GB option.

All three drives feature durable, travel-ready designs. The SanDisk Portable SSD offers projected drop protection of up to two meters, while the Extreme and Extreme PRO models withstand drops of up to three meters and carry IP65 ratings for resistance against water and dust.
Additionally, the Extreme and Extreme PRO SSDs include password protection with 256-bit AES hardware encryption, helping safeguard sensitive data while users work across devices and environments.
