The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in its ongoing artificial intelligence–powered transformation as the Commission marked 35 years of operations.
Inuwa gave the assurance during a goodwill address at CAC’s anniversary celebration held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel. He commended the Commission for its rare consistency and resilience, noting that unlike many institutions that struggle to sustain early success, CAC has continued to grow and evolve.
He recalled that from the beginning of the current Registrar-General’s tenure, digital transformation was placed at the centre of the Commission’s agenda, with a clear focus on innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies.
According to the NITDA boss, the present stage of digital evolution requires more than basic digitisation, stressing that meaningful institutional reform can only be achieved through the integration of artificial intelligence into core operations. He noted that AI has become essential for organisations seeking efficiency, security, and improved service delivery.
Inuwa said NITDA would work closely with CAC to embed AI across its processes, explaining that the technology would introduce smarter workflows, simplify company registration and business management, and strengthen cybersecurity across the system.
He added that the use of advanced AI tools would help CAC stay ahead of fraudsters, prevent hacking and unauthorised changes to company records, and protect sensitive data. He assured that NITDA would ensure the deployment of ethical and responsible AI, supported by clear standards and safeguards.
Highlighting CAC’s digital reforms, Inuwa described them as bold and impactful, pointing out that company registration timelines have been reduced from several months to as little as 24 hours. He noted that deeper AI adoption would further enhance name search and reservation, automate filings, improve corporate governance, and significantly reduce fraudulent activities.
He also disclosed that NITDA is actively reviewing CAC’s digital and AI transformation roadmaps while providing guidelines, standards, training, and oversight to ensure the delivery of secure, inclusive, and people-centred digital services.
Inuwa concluded by congratulating CAC’s management and staff, as well as members of the National Assembly, for their support, expressing confidence that the collaboration between both agencies would further strengthen Nigeria’s digital business environment in the years ahead.
