Kano State has taken another step toward the successful hosting of Cycling Kano 2025 with the official unveiling of the event’s jersey, ahead of the race scheduled for Saturday, December 20.
The unveiling reflects the commitment of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to strengthening sports development, encouraging youth engagement, and promoting healthy lifestyles among residents. The jersey’s design captures elements of Kano’s heritage and identity, symbolising unity and the state’s growing enthusiasm for sports and fitness.
Officials of the state government described the Cycling Kano initiative as a strategic effort to reposition grassroots sports while fostering community participation and wellness. They noted that cycling offers an avenue for young people to channel their energy positively, while also promoting environmental sustainability and physical wellbeing.
The Cycling Kano 2025 event is expected to draw cyclists and sports enthusiasts from within and outside the state. The race will begin at 7:00 a.m. from the Emir’s Palace in Kano, with comprehensive security and medical arrangements in place to ensure a safe and orderly event.
The programme is backed by the Kano State Government in partnership with Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and NNPC, with additional support from Peak Yogurt and CWAY. Residents have been encouraged to participate and support the initiative, as the state continues to use sports as a tool for unity, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.
