The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been ranked among the top five Federal Government agencies delivering the highest levels of transparency and operational efficiency in 2025. The recognition came from the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), which announced the winners during its prestigious Awards and Gala Night held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
For 2025, the NCC stood out in the Transparency and Efficiency Category, earning its place alongside other leading regulators, including the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (overall best-performing agency), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (second place), the Nigeria Customs Service, and the Nigerian Ports Authority.
The award highlights PEBEC’s ongoing drive to promote a more accountable, responsive, and business-friendly public sector. It recognises agencies that demonstrate outstanding commitment to simplifying processes, improving service delivery, and reinforcing public trust through openness and professionalism.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the NCC, reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability. He noted that the recognition validates the Commission’s regulatory reforms and its focus on creating a healthy, predictable environment for the telecommunications sector.
According to Dr. Maida, the NCC views the accolade not only as a milestone but also as a renewed call to deepen its service to the Nigerian people. He stressed that the Commission will continue to safeguard competition, encourage investment, and maintain a regulatory climate where operators can innovate and consumers can enjoy reliable, high-quality telecom services.
He added that maintaining transparency in decision-making and strengthening collaboration with industry stakeholders remain central to sustaining growth in the nation’s digital economy.
During the ceremony, PEBEC Director-General Zahrah Mustapha-Audu emphasised that the Awards were designed to honour agencies and individuals who are championing reforms that directly improve Nigeria’s business environment. She described the occasion as a celebration of institutions that have gone beyond ticking boxes to embrace excellence as a culture.
Mustapha-Audu highlighted that Nigeria’s progress in ease-of-doing-business reforms is a product of deliberate leadership, data-driven strategies, and a coordinated approach spearheaded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs PEBEC, applauded the agencies being recognised and reiterated the government’s resolve to build a more competitive public service. He noted that sustained collaboration across ministries, departments, agencies, and states remains critical to achieving Nigeria’s economic goals.
According to him, every reform that strengthens institutions, removes bottlenecks, and boosts investor confidence contributes to a more vibrant national economy. He praised the dedication of civil servants and reform leaders who continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in public governance.
