FBNQuest Merchant Bank Limited has taken another bold step in its mission to raise a financially enlightened generation, as the institution brought its financial literacy outreach to Kings’ College Lagos on November 19, 2025. The session, organised in honour of World Savings Day, was designed to help students understand the foundations of smart money management, financial independence, and long-term wealth building.

The initiative forms part of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s nationwide effort to strengthen financial awareness among young people and build a savings culture capable of supporting the country’s economic future.

Addressing the students, Afolabi Olorode, Acting Managing Director/CEO of FBNQuest Merchant Bank, stressed that mastering financial principles early in life is essential for personal stability and national development. He encouraged the boys to cultivate discipline in how they earn, save, and spend, noting that the bank remains committed to programmes that nurture financially confident citizens.

Olorode also highlighted that the bank’s involvement in World Savings Day reflects its Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability focus, which prioritises inclusion, education, and economic empowerment for Nigerians across all age groups.

The highly interactive session sparked thoughtful conversations as students asked questions about budgeting, managing their allowances, and making sound financial choices, signaling a rising interest in money management among the younger generation.

Kings’ College Principal, Mr. Magaji Zachariah, applauded the initiative, stating that practical financial education is just as important as academic excellence. He expressed confidence that the knowledge gained will help students develop responsible habits that will guide them well into adulthood.
