At the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit, held this week at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, MTN Nigeria’s Chairman, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe (OFR), delivered a compelling call for increased investment in telecommunications, describing it as Africa’s “invisible infrastructure”, the unseen force powering trade, innovation, connectivity, and financial inclusion across the continent.
Speaking during a high-level panel session titled “Titans on the Move: Africa’s Multinationals”, Dr. Ndukwe emphasized that Africa’s economic transformation depends on sustained and strategic investment in digital and telecoms infrastructure. He noted that for the continent to fully harness its potential, policy consistency, robust broadband expansion, and public-private collaboration must be treated as national priorities.
“Telecommunications is the nervous system of the modern economy,” he said. “It connects markets, fuels entrepreneurship, and enables financial inclusion. When we invest in telecoms, we invest in Africa’s future.”
Through its continued support for the Nigerian Economic Summit, MTN Nigeria reaffirms its belief that collaboration between the private and public sectors remains essential for achieving sustainable growth, innovation, and digital prosperity across Nigeria and Africa at large.
