
Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani, Managing Director of Digital Realty Nigeria, has been crowned the Digital Economy Icon of the Year at the 2025 Digital Innovation Awards (DIA), held at the prestigious Labadi Beach Resort in Accra, Ghana.
The award, presented by Africa’s leading ICT recognition platform InstinctWave, honours Nnamani’s instrumental role in accelerating digital infrastructure across the continent. Known for his strategic vision and technical leadership, Nnamani has led transformative projects that have positioned Digital Realty Nigeria as one of Africa’s most interconnected data centre facilities and a critical hub for regional peering.
Chief Executive Officer of InstinctWave, Mr. Akin Naphtal, praised Nnamani as “an exceptional driver of the continent’s digital economy,” noting his “hands-on leadership and foundational contributions to Africa’s digital growth.” Naphtal added that Nnamani’s work continues to impact not only Nigeria but also the broader African tech ecosystem.
Receiving the award, Engr. Nnamani expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Digital Realty Nigeria team, his industry collaborators, and his family. “This recognition fuels my passion to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation,” he said. “I see it not just as an honour but as a responsibility to keep pushing boundaries for the prosperity of our continent.”
This latest recognition adds to an already impressive year for Nnamani, who also received the prestigious Datacenter ICON Award at the 2025 Africa Digital Economy Awards (ADEA). His leadership has helped develop local ICT capacity, attract foreign direct investment, and deliver scalable, secure digital services to businesses across Africa.
Under Nnamani’s stewardship, Digital Realty Nigeria has become a beacon for digital innovation, fostering the growth of a robust digital ecosystem and enabling content localization and connectivity expansion across multiple African markets.
