Moniepoint Inc , one of Africa’s foremost digital financial services providers, has unveiled DreamDevs, a hands-on tech training initiative targeting young, ambitious graduates with a passion for innovation and real-world impact.
Launched with a competitive hackathon that selected 20 standout talents, DreamDevs offers a nine-week immersive boot camp tailored to equip participants with practical experience in software engineering. The program zeroes in on graduates from computer science, engineering, and related fields who possess foundational programming knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Throughout the program, participants receive intensive training in high-demand areas like Advanced Java, Google Cloud ML/AI, Kafka Fundamentals, and more — all guided by experienced software engineers. Beyond technical training, the initiative emphasizes building real products that serve millions, laying a solid foundation for a meaningful tech career.
The launch comes at a defining moment for Nigeria’s digital economy. In 2024, the ICT sector contributed 18% to Nigeria’s GDP, reinforcing its role as a key driver of economic transformation. At the same time, the global tech industry faces a serious skills shortage, with 4.5 million tech roles unfilled — a figure expected to rise. By bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world demands, Moniepoint’s DreamDevs is designed to prepare African tech talent for local and global opportunities.
Speaking on the initiative, Felix Ike, Co-Founder and CTO of Moniepoint Inc, stressed the company’s long-standing commitment to nurturing homegrown talent. “DreamDevs isn’t just a training program — it’s a gateway for driven graduates to play an active role in Africa’s digital transformation. We’re not just building skills; we’re creating a future where local talent powers innovation across the continent,” Ike said.
Top-performing DreamDevs participants will be offered internship placements, with potential for full-time roles within Moniepoint. The initiative also serves as a launchpad for deeper engagement in the tech ecosystem through startup incubation and product development support.
DreamDevs complements national efforts like the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, which aims to create two million digital jobs by 2025 under the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Tinubu. Together, these programs are shaping the foundation of Nigeria’s digital economy and solidifying its role as a net exporter of global tech talent.
This isn’t Moniepoint’s first foray into talent development. The company previously rolled out initiatives like HatchDev, a nine-month program launched in collaboration with NITHub UNILAG, and its impactful Women in Tech program. These efforts reaffirm Moniepoint’s unwavering belief that empowering talent is essential to Africa’s technological and economic future
