Renowned technology expert and African thought leader, Dr. Evans Woherem, has launched a powerful new book titled “Building a New Africa”, calling on Africans at home and in the diaspora to unite in reimagining the continent’s future.

The book, described by many as timely and visionary, offers a compelling roadmap for Africa’s rebirth—drawing from its rich historical legacy, confronting present-day challenges, and offering bold solutions for transformation. According to Dr. Woherem, the publication is “not just a book, but a clarion call” for collective action, self-reliance, and prosperity.

This book doesn’t just touch on Africa’s past,” Dr. Woherem stated. “It makes us understand our vast potential and lays out a vision for a future where Africa can thrive and stand tall among nations.

Building a New Africa explores the achievements of Africa’s pre-colonial empires—from Egypt and Kush to Benin and Great Zimbabwe—while addressing the long-term effects of slavery, colonialism, and neo-colonial structures. Dr. Woherem highlights the continent’s ongoing struggles with underdevelopment, political instability, and economic dependency.

Despite these challenges, the book is far from pessimistic. It proposes practical strategies centered around industrialization, entrepreneurship, visionary leadership, and the creation of a Pan-African development model to overcome shared challenges and build lasting resilience.

With a distinguished career that spans banking, tech innovation, and academia, Dr. Woherem brings depth and experience to the conversation. He was the pioneer Chairman of Interswitch Nigeria, now a tech unicorn, and has held leadership roles at First Bank of Nigeria, Unity Bank, and Digital Africa.

Dr. Woherem holds a PhD in Expert Systems and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Computer Society and an alumnus of Harvard Business School.

The book is now available to the public and is being hailed as essential reading for students, professionals, policymakers, and everyday Africans passionate about reshaping Africa’s story. “The journey to a renewed, empowered, and united Africa begins with informed minds and inspired hearts,” Dr. Woherem affirmed.
