MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability by securing a B- rating in Climate Change and a C rating in Water Security from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). These ratings reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to managing environmental risks transparently and responsibly.
The recognition highlights MTN Nigeria’s efforts to improve its sustainability reporting and non-financial disclosures, showcasing its progress in environmental stewardship.
Speaking on the achievement, Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, MTN Nigeria, stated:
“We are integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles at the heart of our operations, acknowledging their crucial role in delivering long-term value for our stakeholders. Our sustainability strategy is evident in our initiatives—reducing energy consumption, enhancing efficiency, and expanding renewable energy adoption. Through Project Zero, we continue to make significant strides toward lowering greenhouse gas emissions, with the ultimate goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2040. The B- rating in Climate Change from CDP, which falls within the ‘Management’ band, validates our continuous progress.”
The CDP is a globally recognized non-profit organization that operates the only independent environmental disclosure system worldwide. In 2024, over 24,800 companies across more than 90 countries reported their environmental impact through CDP’s platform, providing comprehensive data to drive informed decision-making and sustainable development.
