Ademola Lookman’s penalty-taking skills have come under heavy fire from Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini after the team’s 3-1 loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League knockout round play-offs.

The Nigerian forward missed a vital penalty that would have given his team a chance to rally after he had earlier scored Atalanta’s lone goal of the game.

After Tuesday’s game, Gasperini was candid in his evaluation of the player’s choice to take the penalty kick.

Gasperini remarked, “Ademola Lookman is among the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen.”

Even though there were other designated takers available, Lookman took the ball, according to the Atalanta manager.

After he scored a goal, he wanted to take the penalty. Even though Retegui and De Keteleare were available to take the ball, he did. “I didn’t like Lookman’s actions,” Gasperini continued.

Due to the missed penalty, Atalanta was eliminated from the competition because they were unable to overcome their deficit.
