The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has lauded its Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, for receiving the prestigious Young Global Leader Award from ThisDay Newspaper. The honour was bestowed upon him during the newspaper’s grand 30th-anniversary celebration held on January 27, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
The Young Global Leader Award recognizes Halilu’s transformative leadership, his visionary contributions to Nigeria’s technology and manufacturing sectors, and his unwavering commitment to sustainable development through innovation. Under his stewardship, NASENI has achieved significant milestones, solidifying its role as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial revolution.
Since assuming leadership at NASENI, Halilu has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives, leading to the development of 35 market-ready products designed for use by Nigerians. Additionally, he has successfully closed deals on 44 projects in collaboration with the Agency’s partners, all set for launch or commissioning.
Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Halilu dedicated the award to the entire NASENI team. “This award is a testament to the collective efforts of the NASENI family in advancing innovation and ensuring Nigeria remains at the forefront of technology and engineering infrastructure. It inspires us to work even harder toward creating solutions that empower industries and communities,” he stated.
Under Halilu’s leadership, NASENI has implemented numerous landmark projects, including the development of sustainable green technologies, the establishment of world-class manufacturing facilities, and strategic collaborations with local and international partners aimed at boosting Nigeria’s economic growth.
The award ceremony brought together distinguished figures from Nigeria’s public and private sectors to celebrate excellence and leadership.
