ALX, Africa’s leading tech accelerator, reaffirmed its dedication to advancing tech skills acquisition and fostering inclusive growth in Nigeria through active participation in two key industry events: the Akwa Ibom Tech Week and the Ogun Digital Summit.
Ruby Igwe, Country General Manager for ALX Nigeria, took part in the Akwa Ibom Tech Expo, contributing to a panel discussion on the theme “Leveraging Innovation for Inclusive Growth.” She underscored the importance of creating an inclusive community that empowers individuals through technology and innovation.
“ALX is focused on development, providing opportunities for millions of African and Nigerian youths within our community,” Igwe remarked. “We celebrate the uniqueness of every individual and encourage them to approach innovation from a problem-solving perspective. By interrogating problems with the right data, we can develop effective solutions.”
Adding to the discourse, Nkechi Belinda Idinmachi, Fellowship Specialist at ALX Nigeria, highlighted the global shortage of tech talent, driven by widespread digital transformation.
“There is a projected global talent shortage of 83 million by 2023. ALX is committed to addressing this gap by creating opportunities for young Africans. To date, we have trained over 200,000 young people across the continent and have mastered the art of large-scale training through robust infrastructure,” Idinmachi explained.
Following its impactful presence at Akwa Ibom Tech Week, ALX continued its engagement at the Ogun Digital Summit, which convened innovators, industry leaders, and tech enthusiasts from across Nigeria. At both events, attendees interacted with ALX representatives, learning about the accelerator’s world-class offerings and its dedication to equipping African youth with critical tech skills.
